Max & Maureen's Wedding Reception at Dock 5
A new year brings about new resolutions. Or, in my case, old resolutions, dusted off. Such is the case with blogging. I have so many weddings, portrait sessions, and unfinished drafts in my queue that NEED to be published. At the top of my list is this one right here, the second part of Max & Maureen’s epic three-day wedding celebration.
If you haven’t yet checked out the first part of their wedding— the actual ceremony— go back and take a look. Read about how intentional these two were with their planning, browse through the images of their emotional ketubah signing and ceremony, and get inspiration from their intimate dinner party.
After Thursday’s private events, Friday’s Welcome Dinner/Shabbat held at Juniper, The Fairmont’s in-house restaurant, was a way for all guests to gather and celebrate the kick-off to a gorgeous weekend.
I wish everyone could have a welcome dinner for their guests. It is a great way to slip into wedding festivities and enjoy the company of friends and family without being rushed. I offer a separate add-on in my pricing guide especially for these events because sometimes they are exceptionally planned and therefore should be beautifully photographed, and it gives me a chance to get some group photos that there may not be time for on the actual wedding day. (Sorority sisters/Frat brothers, a soccer club, extended family, etc.) I also get to know family and friends even better, allowing me to have greater insight into a couple’s nuances.
It was a beautiful night. The food was delicious, especially Max’s mother’s challah. Annie is known for that glorious golden delicious braid of bread, and knowing that she had spent much of the day preparing it, I couldn’t wait to get into a piece. Let’s just say it was life-changing. (Seriously, she’s so good at this she occasionally teaches classes!)
Saturday was a different kind of wedding day. Logan and I didn’t meet up with Max and Mo until 5pm— go time. The four of us were driven to Dock 5 where a night of exceptional food, music and dancing awaited. There was, of course, the anticipation of seeing the reception space as well. Dock 5 is a warehouse that’s on the second level of Union Market. It’s 12,000+ square feet for your (or your planner’s) imagination to run free. Christie Yerks of Grit & Grace took the helm to help Max and Mo create a sleek, modern space with more masculine vibes than that of Thursday’s intimate dinner, that would house multiple globally-inspired food stations, a massive dance floor and stage for the band.
Which brings me to the band. The Fuzz Band. I was so, so excited to hear that they were playing Max and Mo’s wedding I may have freaked out just a little on a conference call. As per usual, these guys absolutely slayed.
From the moment guests arrived they were treated to a full immersive experience. It was a night like no other.
